Modeling and Simulation Laboratory

Modeling and Simulation Laboratory

The Modeling and Simulation Laboratory aims to develop the systems thinking, mathematical modeling, and simulation skills necessary for the analysis, design, and improvement of complex production, service, and logistics systems. The laboratory provides students with a comprehensive application infrastructure that allows them to create analytical and numerical models representing real-world systems, test these models in simulation environments, and interpret the resulting data.

The laboratory examines the dynamic behavior of a wide range of systems, from production lines to hospital emergency rooms, from warehouse management to customer service. Performance metrics are evaluated through probability-based simulations and scenario analyses. Custom models are developed using industry-standard software such as Arena, Simio, FlexSim, and AnyLogic, as well as programming languages such as Python and R. Students learn to effectively use both commercial and open-source tools.

The lab is the application area for undergraduate courses such as "System Simulation," "Decision Support Systems," and "Stochastic Modeling." While it is also a practical application for graduate students, It is also actively used for advanced thesis work, academic projects, and industrial consulting activities.

The Modeling and Simulation Laboratory aims to prepare students for the digitalizing industrial world by providing them with not only technical knowledge but also skills in systems thinking, analytical decision-making, and solution development under uncertainty.
