Project Life Cycle

Project Life Cycle

The project life cycle is an integrated process extending from the emergence of an initial idea to the dissemination of project results and their transformation into new activities. Ankara Science University Projects Office Directorate supports the preparation and monitoring of projects according to defined standards and the preservation of project information within institutional memory.

Scientific and technical ownership remains with the academic project leader. The Projects Office Directorate does not replace academic content; it provides guidance on funding eligibility, methodology, work packages, budgets, schedules, documentation, reporting, and internal coordination.

Stages of the Project Life Cycle

1. Project Idea: The research problem, objective, target group, methodology, expected results, required partners, and estimated resource needs are defined and recorded through a project idea form.

2. Preliminary Evaluation: The idea is assessed in terms of funding eligibility, institutional priorities, academic capacity, duration, partnership requirements, budget, and expected impact.

3. Application Preparation: The project leader prepares the scientific and technical content. The Directorate provides support regarding call requirements, application format, work packages, schedules, budgets, partner documents, and evaluation criteria.

4. Institutional Approval: Financial obligations, legal commitments, co-financing, ethical approvals, data sharing, intellectual property, staff assignments, institutional representation, and authorised signatures are reviewed before submission.

5. Acceptance and Contracting: The grant or partnership agreement, budget, payment schedule, responsibilities, reporting obligations, intellectual property, visibility, procurement, and audit provisions are reviewed with the relevant units.

6. Implementation: A project kick-off meeting is held. Work packages, activities, responsibilities, budget, procurement, human resources, meetings, visibility, and supporting evidence are monitored.

7. Reporting: The project leader prepares the technical report. The Directorate supports compliance with reporting formats, deadlines, evidence, financial documentation, visibility requirements, and portal procedures.

8. Closure: Technical and financial reports, final payments, project outputs, contractual obligations, partner documents, publications, visibility activities, and archives are completed through a closure checklist.

9. Impact and Continuity: Project results are developed into publications, educational content, policy recommendations, new project ideas, industry cooperation, or societal value. Outputs with intellectual property or commercial potential are referred to the Technology Transfer Office.
