Information for Incoming Erasmus+ and Exchange Students
1. General Information
Ankara Science University is a higher education institution located in Ankara, the capital of Türkiye, and places strong emphasis on internationalisation, intercultural interaction and academic cooperation.
Our University welcomes students from partner higher education institutions within the scope of the Erasmus+ Programme and other international exchange programmes.
Before applying to Ankara Science University, students must first be selected by their home institution in accordance with the rules of the relevant programme and the sending institution, and must be officially nominated to our University.
Individual applications submitted without an official nomination from the partner institution will not be considered.
The language of instruction at Ankara Science University may be Turkish or English, depending on the programme and course. Before selecting courses, students must check the language of instruction, course content, academic level and whether the course will be offered during the planned mobility period.

2. Admission and Application Process
Nomination
Incoming students are selected by their home institutions in accordance with the selection rules of the relevant Erasmus+ project or exchange programme.
The sending institution must officially nominate the selected student to Ankara Science University. Nominations are submitted through the nomination form or official communication method communicated to partner institutions by the Erasmus Office of Ankara Science University.
Students may submit their applications after the official nomination process has been completed.
Application
Officially nominated students are informed by the Erasmus Office of Ankara Science University about the application procedure, required documents, document submission method and application deadline.
Completing the application does not automatically mean that the student has been accepted. Applications are evaluated by considering the following:
- The scope of the relevant Erasmus+ Inter-Institutional Agreement,
- The student’s academic field and study level,
- The academic suitability of the courses listed in the Learning Agreement,
- Whether the selected courses will be offered during the relevant academic semester,
- Course and departmental capacities,
- The completeness of the application documents.
Required Application Documents
Depending on the mobility type and application period, students may be required to submit the following documents:
- Online Learning Agreement or Learning Agreement for Studies,
- Learning Agreement for Traineeships,
- Current Transcript of Records,
- Proof of proficiency in English or in the language of instruction of the relevant programme,
- Copy of the passport identification page or an identity document accepted under the applicable regulations,
- Passport-size or biometric photograph,
- Health insurance valid in Türkiye,
- Additional documents, where necessary.
The Learning Agreement must be approved by the student and the sending higher education institution.
The stage at which the health insurance document must be submitted may be communicated separately, depending on the student’s visa status and application conditions.
Submission of Application Documents
Unless otherwise stated, all application documents must be prepared as a single PDF file.
The file must be named in the following format:
SURNAME_Name_HomeInstitution.pdf

Applications containing missing or unreadable documents, documents submitted as separate files, or documents received after the stated deadline may be delayed. The acceptance of late applications cannot be guaranteed.
Language Proficiency
Incoming students are expected to have sufficient proficiency in English or in the language of instruction of the relevant programme to follow their selected courses.
For courses delivered in English, a minimum English proficiency level of B1 is generally expected, while B2 is recommended to enable students to follow their academic studies more comfortably.
Where a different language requirement is specified in the relevant Erasmus+ Inter-Institutional Agreement or academic programme, the conditions of the agreement or programme shall apply.
Nomination and Application Deadlines
Nomination and application deadlines for the fall and spring semesters are announced separately for each academic year.
Partner institutions must officially nominate their students to Ankara Science University within the announced period. Students must also complete their application documents by the deadline communicated to them.
Students who require a visa are advised to complete their applications as early as possible.
Late nominations and applications may be evaluated depending on the academic calendar, the starting dates of courses, available capacities and the approval of the relevant academic unit. The acceptance of late applications cannot be guaranteed.
Letter of Acceptance
An official Letter of Acceptance is issued after all required application documents have been submitted, the Learning Agreement has been found academically appropriate and the application has been approved.
The Letter of Acceptance is sent electronically to both the student and the sending higher education institution.
A Letter of Acceptance cannot be issued before the required documents have been received and the academic evaluation has been completed.
Registration Procedures After Arrival in Türkiye
After arriving in Türkiye and at Ankara Science University, students must complete the registration and document verification procedures.
The originals or current copies of the following documents may be requested during registration:
- Passport or an identity document accepted under the applicable regulations,
- Health insurance document,
- Learning Agreement,
- Letter of Acceptance,
- Passport-size or biometric photograph,
- Other registration documents, where necessary.
The required registration documents, document submission location and deadline will be communicated to students before their arrival in Türkiye.
3. Accommodation
Ankara Science University provides incoming students with information and general guidance regarding accommodation options.
Students may consider contracted or private student dormitories located near the University, as well as private rental accommodation.
The following conditions are determined by the relevant accommodation provider:
- Availability,
- Application requirements,
- Accommodation fees,
- Deposit and payment conditions,
- Services provided,
- Entry and exit rules.
Ankara Science University does not guarantee direct accommodation or a dormitory place for incoming students. Students are responsible for selecting their accommodation, contacting the dormitory or property owner, making reservations and completing payment procedures.
Students are advised to arrange their accommodation as early as possible after receiving their Letter of Acceptance.

4. Courses and Academic Programme
Incoming students may select courses at Ankara Science University that are appropriate to their academic field, study level and the scope of the relevant Erasmus+ Inter-Institutional Agreement.
The following factors are taken into consideration during course selection:
- Whether the course is offered during the relevant academic semester,
- The language of instruction,
- Course content and ECTS value,
- The student’s academic level,
- Course prerequisites, where applicable,
- Course and classroom capacity,
- Weekly course schedule and possible timetable conflicts,
- Approval of the relevant Departmental Erasmus Coordinator and academic unit.
The Learning Agreement forms the basis of the course selection process. It must be approved by the student, the sending higher education institution and Ankara Science University before the mobility begins.
Course availability, timetables and capacities may change depending on academic planning. Where a course selected during the application stage is not offered, students may revise their Learning Agreement with the approval of all relevant parties.
Course changes after the beginning of the mobility must be completed through the During the Mobility section of the Learning Agreement and within the period specified by the relevant Erasmus+ rules.
Incoming students are recommended to take approximately 30 ECTS credits per academic semester. The final course load is determined with the approval of the sending institution and the Departmental Erasmus Coordinators at both the sending and receiving institutions.
The recognition of courses successfully completed at Ankara Science University is carried out by the student’s home institution. The Learning Agreement and the Transcript of Records issued by Ankara Science University are the main documents used in the academic recognition process.

5. Fees, Grants and Cost of Living
Erasmus+ students accepted by Ankara Science University are not charged tuition, registration or examination fees.
For students participating in exchange programmes other than Erasmus+, the provisions of the relevant inter-institutional agreement shall apply.
Students are responsible for the following personal expenses:
- International and local transportation,
- Accommodation,
- Meals,
- Health insurance,
- Visa and student residence permit procedures,
- Telephone and communication expenses,
- Course materials,
- Social and personal expenses.
The cost of living in Ankara may vary depending on the student’s accommodation preference, lifestyle, transportation habits and personal needs. Therefore, a fixed monthly cost of living is not specified.
Students are advised to prepare their budget before arriving in Türkiye by considering accommodation, transportation, food, health insurance and personal expenses.
The Erasmus+ grant amount, payment method and payment schedule are determined by the student’s sending higher education institution or the relevant grant-providing organisation.
Grant agreements and grant payments for incoming students are not managed by Ankara Science University. Students must contact the Erasmus office of their home institution for information about their grant procedures.
Grant Procedures for Incoming Students under KA171
The grant information provided above applies to students coming to Ankara Science University under KA131. Erasmus+ grants for incoming students participating under KA131 are administered and paid by their home institutions.
For students coming to Ankara Science University under KA171 projects coordinated by our University, grant procedures are administered by the Erasmus Coordination Office of Ankara Science University. The applicable individual support and travel grant amounts are determined according to the approved budget of the relevant KA171 project, the rules of the applicable contract period, the student’s country of origin, the duration of the mobility and the travel distance.
The payment method, payment schedule, required documents and final grant amount to be awarded are communicated to the student for the relevant project and mobility period and specified in the grant agreement signed with the student.
6. Health, Insurance and Safety
Students coming to Ankara Science University must have valid health insurance covering Türkiye and the entire mobility period.
The health insurance should:
- Be valid in Türkiye,
- Cover the entire mobility period,
- Meet the requirements for a student residence permit,
- Cover the healthcare services the student may require.
Students are advised to confirm with their insurance provider or home institution whether their existing health insurance is valid in Türkiye before travelling.
The types of health insurance accepted for student residence permit applications and the current document requirements are determined by the Presidency of Migration Management.
Information about campus safety, emergency procedures and emergency telephone numbers used in Türkiye is provided during the orientation or registration process.
Students with disabilities, chronic health conditions, special needs or additional support requirements are advised to inform the Erasmus Office during the application stage so that possible arrangements can be evaluated with the relevant units.
Information concerning a student’s health condition and special requirements is handled in accordance with confidentiality principles.
7. Orientation Programme and Campus Life
An orientation programme is organised at the beginning of the semester to support incoming students in adapting to the academic, administrative and social processes at Ankara Science University.
The date, time and content of the orientation programme are communicated to accepted students before the beginning of the academic semester.
The orientation programme may include information about:
- The University and campus,
- Registration and student affairs procedures,
- Course selection and the academic system,
- Learning Agreement procedures,

Buddy Programme
Incoming Erasmus+ and exchange students may participate in the Buddy Programme, which aims to help them communicate with Ankara Science University students and adapt more easily to the University.
Buddy students may provide general support and guidance regarding:
- Adaptation to campus and University life,
- Daily life in Ankara and Türkiye,
- General academic and administrative procedures,
- Student activities and social life,
- Practical matters relating to daily life.
The scope, matching method and implementation of the Buddy Programme may vary depending on the conditions of the relevant academic semester. Information about the programme is communicated to accepted students before the beginning of the semester.
WhatsApp Communication Group
Students who receive a Letter of Acceptance may be invited to the Erasmus+ WhatsApp communication group created for the relevant academic semester.
General announcements and practical information concerning the beginning of the semester, orientation programme, document submission and daily procedures may be shared through this group.
The WhatsApp group does not replace official email communication. Correspondence concerning applications, document approval, admission procedures and individual cases must be conducted through erasmus@ankarabilim.edu.tr.

8. Visa and Student Residence Permit
Visa requirements for students coming to Türkiye may vary depending on:
- Their nationality,
- The passport or travel document they hold,
- The duration of their stay in Türkiye,
- The visa arrangements between Türkiye and the relevant country.
Before travelling to Türkiye, students must check the current visa requirements with the Embassy or Consulate of the Republic of Türkiye in their home country.
Students are responsible for following the visa procedures, preparing the required documents and meeting the legal entry requirements for Türkiye.
Students who are required to obtain a student residence permit due to the duration and legal conditions of their stay in Türkiye must complete their application within the period communicated to them.
Student Residence Permit Application Process
Students complete the online application form through the e-Residence system of the Presidency of Migration Management and prepare the required application documents.
The completed documents must be submitted to the relevant unit of Ankara Science University within the period and through the method communicated by the University.
The relevant University unit:
- Receives student residence permit application files,
- Checks the submitted documents,
- Informs students about missing or incorrect documents,
- Forwards completed application files to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management,
- Provides general information and guidance regarding the application process.
The evaluation and final decision concerning the student residence permit application are under the authority of the Presidency of Migration Management.
Students are responsible for:
- Completing the e-Residence application form accurately and fully,
- Preparing the required documents within the stated period,
- Submitting the documents to the relevant University unit on time,
- Holding valid health insurance,
- Providing accurate and current address and contact details in Türkiye,
- Following announcements and notifications issued by the University and the relevant public authorities.
The required documents may vary depending on the student’s nationality, accommodation arrangements, duration of stay and current regulations. The required documents, document submission location and deadline will be communicated to students separately.
Within the framework of the cooperation between the Council of Higher Education and the Presidency of Migration Management, student residence permit application files are checked by the relevant university units and forwarded to the Provincial Directorates of Migration Management.

Important Information
The Incoming Student Nomination Form must be completed separately for each student by the authorised Erasmus+ coordinator of the sending higher education institution. The completed form must be sent from the sending institution’s official email address to erasmus@ankarabilim.edu.tr. Nomination forms submitted directly by students are not accepted as official nominations.
The Learning Agreement must be approved by the student, the sending higher education institution and Ankara Science University before the mobility period begins.
The documents and templates to be used may vary depending on the type of mobility, the relevant Erasmus+ project period and the applicable Inter-Institutional Agreement. Students must use the most recent documents provided by the Ankara Science University Erasmus Coordination Office or their sending institution.
10. Living in Ankara
Ankara is the capital of Türkiye and one of the country’s major university cities. It offers students a wide range of opportunities through its public transportation network, museums, libraries, cultural and arts centres, parks, sports facilities and social activities.
The central location of Ankara Science University provides convenient access to the campus, public transportation and different parts of the city.
