Dear Students,
Welcome to the Preparatory School. Since the language of instruction in our university departments is English, all newly enrolled students are required to take the English Proficiency Exam. Below is the basic information you will need. For any questions beyond this information, please send an email to hazirlikokuluyonetim@ankarabilim.edu.tr.
When is the English Proficiency Exam administered?
The English Proficiency Exam is administered by the Preparatory School at the beginning of each academic year. The passing grade for this exam for students in the Translation and Interpreting department is 80, while the passing grade for students in other departments is 60. Students who fail this exam are placed in the English Preparatory Program at a level appropriate to their foreign language proficiency. Additionally, the Placement Test is not administered.
Is there a sample English Proficiency Exam?
You can find the sample exam file here.
Can I skip the preparatory course before taking the English Proficiency Exam?
The international language exams accepted by our university are TOEFL IBT, PTE Academic, Cambridge C2 Proficiency, Cambridge C1 Proficiency, Cambridge Linguaskill General, Oxford Test of English Advanced, and Oxford Test of English. You can skip the preparatory course by obtaining the required scores from these exams. You can access the score equivalence table on the equivalent exam criteria page. For exam scores to be considered, students must be registered for the semester. Exam scores are valid for two (2) years.
I didn't pass the English Proficiency Exam. What happens now?
Students who fail the English Proficiency Exam will begin their education at the Preparatory School. Preparatory students will receive branch and course information after the exam is completed.
