Erasmus+ student mobility is a mobility program that enables students to complete part of their education at a partner higher education institution abroad or to undertake an internship at an institution related to their field of study.
Student mobility consists of two main types of activities:
Student Study Mobility
Student Internship Mobility
Students enrolled full-time in an associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral program at Ankara Science University are eligible to apply.
Applicants must meet the academic achievement, foreign language proficiency, educational level, and other eligibility requirements specified in the relevant application announcement.
Under the general Erasmus+ rules:
Associate’s and bachelor’s degree students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.20/4.00,
while master’s and doctoral students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.50/4.00.
If a different or higher minimum GPA is specified in the relevant call for applications, the conditions of that call shall apply.
For first-year students at Ankara Science University who have not yet received their transcripts at the time of application, their high school graduation GPA may be used. These students must have a high school graduation GPA of at least 75/100.
The relevant application announcement will also specify the academic year from which study mobility can be undertaken.
No. Having courses to make up does not in itself disqualify a student from applying. The student must meet the minimum GPA, foreign language requirements, and other application criteria specified in the relevant announcement.
However, the student must have a sufficient academic workload to pursue studies abroad as part of the study mobility program.
Applications are submitted via the TURNA Portal within the dates specified in the announcement for the relevant academic year or project period published by Ankara Science University.
Application deadlines, quotas, accepted foreign language certificates, evaluation criteria, and required documents are announced separately in each application announcement.
In general, student selection is based on the following criteria:
Academic achievement: 50%
Foreign language proficiency: 50% These criteria are weighted accordingly.
Any additional points, priorities, and point deductions to be applied during the relevant contract period are specified in the application announcement.
No. Applications are evaluated based on the student’s selection score, preferences, available spots in the department or at the level of study, inter-institutional agreements, and the current project budget.
Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee that the student will be selected directly or placed on a scholarship.
A primary student is a student who has qualified to participate in the mobility program within the announced quota.
Reserve students, on the other hand, may participate in the mobility program based on their ranking should primary students withdraw, sufficient quota become available, or additional funding be secured.
Yes. However, students must notify the Erasmus Coordination Office in writing within the announced withdrawal period.
Failure to submit a withdrawal notice within the specified timeframe and without a valid reason may result in a point deduction on future Erasmus+ applications. The current policy is specified in the relevant application announcement.
Yes. Students must demonstrate proficiency in the language they will use during their mobility period.
They may use the Erasmus+ foreign language exam administered by Ankara Science University or the results of national and international foreign language exams specified as acceptable in the call for applications.
It is not mandatory in all cases. Students must have sufficient proficiency in the language in which courses or internship activities are conducted at the host institution.
Some partner institutions may require a specific language proficiency level or additional language certification. Therefore, students should review the host institution’s language of instruction and language requirements before making their selection.
In study mobility, a student takes courses or conducts academic research at a higher education institution with which Ankara Science University has an inter-institutional agreement.
In internship mobility, a student completes a full-time internship at a business, research center, laboratory, higher education institution, or other appropriate organization related to their academic field.
No. Study mobility can take place at institutions with which Ankara Science University has a valid Erasmus+ inter-institutional agreement that covers the student’s academic field and level of study.
Students must select their preferences from among the partner institutions and available spots listed in the application announcement.
As a general rule, students may participate in mobility programs through an inter-institutional agreement that covers their department or academic field.
The fact that an agreement exists at the university level does not mean that students from all departments and at all levels of study can benefit from it. The agreement’s academic field, level of study, and quota are taken into account.
For internship mobility, if the internship is carried out at a company or another eligible organization, an inter-institutional agreement is not required.
However, if the internship is carried out at a higher education institution, the relevant Erasmus+ and inter-institutional agreement conditions may apply. The suitability of the internship location and program for the student’s field of study must be approved by the relevant department.
It is the student’s responsibility to find an internship placement.
The Erasmus Coordination Office and the relevant department coordinator may inform students about internship opportunities and eligibility requirements; however, no guarantee of an internship placement is provided on the student’s behalf.
Yes. Students must apply for and be selected for a post-graduation internship mobility program before graduating.
The mobility must be completed within 12 months of the graduation date, and the total duration of Erasmus+ mobility at the same level of study must not exceed 12 months. Graduates cannot submit a new application.
Long-term:
Study mobility: 2–12 months
Internship mobility: 2–12 months can be carried out.
Shorter-term activities may also be implemented for doctoral students and eligible blended mobility programs. The total duration of all Erasmus+ student mobility activities undertaken by a student at the same level of study may not exceed 12 months.
Yes. You may participate in the program more than once, provided that the total duration of study and internship mobility activities at the same level of education does not exceed 12 months.
There is a separate 12-month mobility entitlement for each of the associate’s/bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels.
Learning Agreement – A document that outlines the courses or academic work the student will undertake at the host institution during the mobility period.
The document must be approved by the student, Ankara Science University, and the host institution before the mobility period begins.
Students are expected to plan an academic workload of 60 ECTS credits for a full academic year and approximately 30 ECTS credits for a single semester.
The exact course load is determined based on the student’s academic program, the duration of the mobility period, and the approval of the relevant department coordinators.
Yes. Changes may be made to the Learning Agreement if a course initially selected is not offered, if course schedules conflict, or if the course is not academically appropriate.
Changes must be made through the “During the Mobility” section of the Learning Agreement and approved by both the sending and receiving institutions.
Full recognition of the academic work included in the Learning Agreement approved prior to the mobility period and successfully completed is essential.
At the end of the mobility period, the academic recognition and credit transfer procedures at Ankara Science University are completed based on the transcript issued by the host institution. The successfully completed mobility period is indicated on the Diploma Supplement.
Courses in which the student has been successful are included in the academic recognition process. For courses in which the student has failed, procedures are carried out in accordance with the academic regulations of Ankara Science University and the decision of the relevant department.
A failure may be evaluated separately in terms of the student’s grant agreement and the success criteria for the relevant contract period.
Yes. Students who successfully complete the selection process can participate in the Erasmus+ mobility program even without a grant.
Students without grants follow the same academic and administrative procedures as those with grants; the only difference is that they do not receive an Erasmus+ grant payment.
No. The Erasmus+ grant is financial support that helps cover the additional expenses incurred by the student while abroad; it does not guarantee coverage of accommodation, transportation, meals, visas, or any other expenses.
Grant amounts and payment terms are determined based on the relevant contract period and the destination country group.
The grant payment schedule, installment rates, and documents required for payment are determined based on the relevant project and contract period.
Payments cannot be made until a grant agreement has been signed with the student and the required mobility documents have been completed. The final grant calculation is based on the mobility dates actually completed by the student and documented by the Certificate of Participation.
For this reason, rather than a fixed payment rate listed on the website, the terms of the relevant call for applications and the grant agreement should be used as the basis.
The Erasmus+ grant is not a payment that replaces a national scholarship or loan the student is currently receiving.
Under the general Erasmus+ rules, students’ existing higher education scholarships and loans should not be suspended or reduced due to mobility. However, students should also check the specific rules of the institution from which they receive their scholarship.
It is the student’s responsibility to complete passport and visa procedures on time.
After being selected, students should review the current visa requirements published by the embassy or consulate in Turkey of the country where the host institution is located. The Erasmus Coordination Office can provide information regarding the necessary institutional documents.
Students must have insurance that is valid in the host country and covers the type of activity during their mobility period.
For internship mobility, accident and third-party liability insurance may be required in addition to health insurance. The required insurance coverage must be verified in accordance with the rules of the host institution and the host country.
As a general rule, it is the student’s responsibility to arrange housing.
The host institution may provide information and guidance regarding dormitories, private housing, or rental housing options; however, it is not required to guarantee housing directly to the student.
The duration of the mobility period may be extended with the approval of the host institution, the relevant department coordinator, and the Erasmus Coordination Office at Ankara Science University.
The request for an extension must be submitted before the current mobility period is completed and must be consistent with the duration of the inter-institutional agreement and the project end date. Whether the extended period is eligible for funding will be determined based on the available budget.
Depending on the type of activity and the relevant contract period, the following documents may be requested:

Transcript of Records,
A completed copy of the Learning Agreement,
Internship Certificate or Traineeship Certificate,
Passport entry and exit records or travel documents,
Online participant survey,
Other documents specified by the Erasmus Coordination Office.

Yes. In order for students to maintain their student status at Ankara Science University, they must complete the registration renewal process and, if applicable, fulfill their tuition or other financial obligations.
Under the Erasmus+ study mobility program, the host university does not charge students tuition, registration fees, or fees for exams, laboratory access, or library services. However, small fees may be charged for insurance, student union membership, or similar limited services.
Courses to be taken abroad during the mobility period are determined through the Learning Agreement and Academic Approval Form (Outbound) and approved by the relevant department. Semester registration and course registration procedures at Ankara Science University are carried out in accordance with the University’s relevant academic and administrative practices.
Yes. It is a fundamental principle that courses approved in advance of the mobility period via the Learning Agreement and the Academic Approval Form (Outbound) and successfully completed at the host university are fully recognized by Ankara Bilim University. The purpose of the Learning Agreement is to ensure that academic work successfully completed abroad is recognized by the sending university.
After the mobility period is completed, the Transcript of Records issued by the host university serves as the basis. Course grade conversion and academic recognition procedures are carried out by the Erasmus program coordinator and the relevant academic unit through the Academic Approval Form (Return).
Courses that are successfully completed and recognized are recorded in the student’s academic records, and information regarding the mobility period is included in the Diploma Supplement. Courses in which the student was unsuccessful at the host university or for which prior academic approval was not obtained are evaluated in accordance with the relevant academic regulations of Ankara Science University.
Erasmus+ inter-institutional agreements are concluded between two or more higher education institutions by authorized institutional representatives. The agreement specifies the academic fields of cooperation, levels of study, types of student and staff mobility, quotas, and the agreement’s validity period. For Erasmus+ study mobility to take place, a valid inter-institutional agreement covering the student’s mobility period must be in place.
Students cannot sign inter-institutional agreements. However, they may propose a higher education institution with which they wish to establish cooperation to the relevant Erasmus department coordinator at Ankara Science University and to the Erasmus Coordination Office.
When requesting a new agreement, it would be helpful to provide the following information:
The name and country of the proposed university,
The relevant faculty or department,
Contact information for an authorized representative (if available),
Language of instruction and course offerings,
The academic benefits the collaboration could provide to students and the department.
Requests are evaluated based on academic compatibility, course content, language of instruction, reciprocity, quotas, the institutions’ willingness to collaborate, and the suitability of the relevant units.

The proposal of a new institution does not guarantee that the agreement will be signed or that the student making the proposal will be placed at that institution. Inter-institutional agreements are made on behalf of Ankara Science University, not on behalf of a specific student, and are open to all students who meet the relevant conditions.
No. Erasmus+ student mobility in higher education is managed at the institutional level. Students apply through the call for applications published by the higher education institution where they are enrolled; they are evaluated and selected by their institution and nominated to the relevant partner institution.
Students cannot apply directly to the European Commission, the Turkish National Agency, or the partner university.
For study mobility, there must be a valid Erasmus+ inter-institutional agreement between Ankara Bilim University and the host higher education institution.
For internship mobility, students may find the institution where they will complete their internship on their own; however, the application, eligibility, selection, and approval processes are still carried out through Ankara Bilim University
For study mobility, students may choose from among Ankara Science University’s valid Erasmus+ inter-institutional agreements that cover their specific academic fields and levels of study. A university not listed in the call for applications or one that does not cover the student’s department and level of study cannot be selected. Inter-institutional agreements establish the conditions for student and staff mobility between higher education institutions.
Submitting a preference does not guarantee that the student will be definitively placed at the relevant university. Placement is determined by taking into account the student’s academic ranking, preferences, available slots, agreement conditions, and the partner institution’s acceptance.
Students may propose a university with which they wish to establish a partnership to the relevant Erasmus department coordinator and the Erasmus Coordination Office.

Submitting a request for a new agreement does not guarantee that the agreement will be signed or that the student making the request will be placed at the relevant institution.
In internship mobility, the responsibility for finding an internship placement lies with the student. Students may complete their internship at a company, research center, laboratory, or other suitable organization located in countries deemed eligible under the relevant Erasmus+ project and call for applications. The internship activity must be related to the student’s academic field and must be approved via the Learning Agreement for Traineeships.
If the internship is to be conducted at a suitable organization other than a company or higher education institution,
No. Being selected as an Erasmus+ student by Ankara Science University and being placed at a partner institution does not guarantee final admission to the host university. The student must meet the partner university’s application requirements, document submission deadlines, language proficiency, and academic requirements. Final admission is finalized once the partner university evaluates the application and issues an admission letter.
