Dear Students and Esteemed Stakeholders Who Share the Vision of Aviation,

The aviation sector has evolved far beyond being merely a mode of transportation; it has become one of the most critical determinants of economic development, technological advancement, and global competitiveness. Increasing global mobility demands, rapid technological progress, and expanding international networks continue to position aviation as a strategically vital sector.

In the coming years, the aviation industry is expected to maintain a strong growth trajectory. With the rise in global passenger numbers, increasing aircraft investments, and the expansion of emerging markets, the sector is projected to grow both quantitatively and qualitatively. This growth does not merely signify an increase in operational capacity; it also brings along more complex, technology-intensive, and highly sensitive management processes.

In this context, it is anticipated that hundreds of thousands of new aviation professionals will be needed worldwide over the next 20 years. This demand—spanning pilots, air traffic controllers, engineers, and aviation managers—clearly indicates that qualified human capital will become the most critical factor in the sector. However, this need goes beyond numerical growth; it necessitates well-equipped individuals who can think analytically, anticipate risks, and effectively manage complex systems.

As the Faculty of Aviation and Space Sciences, we aim to act in line with these transformation and growth dynamics. Our objective is not only to graduate students but also to cultivate highly qualified professionals who can shape the evolving global aviation ecosystem.

Within this framework, we plan to design our educational activities in a way that integrates technical knowledge with analytical thinking, decision-making capabilities, and strategic perspective. We aim to incorporate all critical domains that define the future of the aviation sector into our curricula.

In addition, we consider developing strong and sustainable collaborations with the industry, supporting our students’ education through practical experience, and establishing an effective interaction environment between academia and industry among our primary priorities. In this regard, we aim to educate individuals who possess not only theoretical knowledge but also hands-on, field-based experience.

As the Faculty of Aviation and Space Sciences, our goal is to contribute to our country’s competitiveness in the aviation sector by educating individuals who can adapt to changing conditions, effectively utilize technology, uphold national and ethical values, and think strategically.

In this journey we have embarked upon to cultivate individuals who will play a decisive role in the future of aviation, we will realize this vision together with our students and stakeholders.

With my sincere regards,

Prof. Dr. Cem Harun Meydan
Dean, Faculty of Aviation and Space Sciences
