Our department started its education and training life simultaneously with the establishment of Ankara Bilim University in 2020-2021. The Department of Psychology, which primarily aims to provide internationally recognized education and aims to provide education in English, has started to provide education in our national language, Turkish, as of 2022-2023, and aims to educate individuals who are competent in their fields and equipped in different theoretical and practical fields of psychology both at home and abroad.
Since the day it was founded, Ankara Bilim University Psychology Department has adopted the principle of supporting its academic staff with well-equipped faculty members who have been educated in the best universities of our country and have a good command of Turkish and English. In this context, the department has recruited faculty members who specialize in the main fields of psychology such as Clinical Psychology, Social Psychology, Developmental Psychology or different intermediate fields of psychology, who have both field practice experience and academic work experience, and who are qualified to train their students as practitioners who can gain different perspectives beyond their academic skills and adapt to the requirements of the social environment in which they live. In addition to the up-to-date undergraduate education they provide, our academicians aim to educate students who can conduct scientific research, use their thinking skills in a meaningful and creative way, approach human-related issues in a questioning, objective and analytical way, and adhere to ethical values.
Our department, which currently continues its activities with 6 full-time and 6 part-time faculty members and two research assistants, has created its curriculum by taking into account the criteria recommended by the Turkish Psychological Association in order to educate individuals with the qualifications it aims. In this framework, the department aims to subject its students to a transition process that can facilitate their adaptation to the next academic and professional life with the compulsory internship and project preparation tasks in the last semester of the curriculum consisting of 8 semesters. In addition, being aware of the gap between theory and practice in the discipline of psychology and the need for this area, our department cooperates with public institutions such as the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Family and Social Services within the scope of internship practices, as well as offering education and internship mobility opportunities abroad within the scope of international exchange programs such as Erasmus, and supporting students' research experiences with TÜBİTAK and BAP projects. All these practical experiences provide students with important advantages in their transition to professional life and also guide them in their career planning.
