What Is an ICM-KA171 Project?

ICM (International Credit Mobility) KA171-HED is a project type that offers higher education students and academic and administrative staff the opportunity to study, undertake a traineeship, teach or receive training in third countries not associated with the Erasmus+ Programme.

This activity was implemented under the code KA107 during the previous Erasmus+ programme period and is currently implemented under the code KA171.

KA171 projects enable student and staff mobility between Ankara Science University and higher education institutions located in third countries not associated with the Erasmus+ Programme.

The countries covered by KA171 are classified by the European Commission under 12 different regions.

KA171 Project Activities

Student Mobility: Mobility undertaken by higher education students from Türkiye to third countries not associated with the Programme and from those countries to Türkiye for study or traineeship purposes.

Staff Mobility: Mobility undertaken by higher education staff from Türkiye to third countries not associated with the Programme and from those countries to Türkiye for teaching or training purposes.

Third Countries Not Associated with the Programme

The countries indicated in bold below are subject to specific restrictions concerning student mobility.

Region 1 – Western Balkans

The country and regional classifications are based on the current Erasmus+ country list and the ICM-KA171 implementation rules published by the European Commission.

Important Information on Student Mobility

For the countries indicated in bold, outgoing short-cycle, bachelor’s and master’s level student mobility from Türkiye to the relevant country is not supported under the KA171 external action funds.

Doctoral students and academic and administrative staff may be sent from Türkiye to these countries. Incoming student and staff mobility from the relevant countries to Türkiye may also be supported.

Region 1 – Western Balkans is not subject to this restriction.

*Special restrictions apply to Belarus and Russia. Under the current rules, only incoming student mobility from these countries may be supported. Outgoing student or staff mobility from Türkiye to these countries and incoming staff mobility from these countries are not supported under Erasmus+.

Ankara Science University KA171 Mobilities

The inclusion of a country in the list above does not automatically mean that mobility can be carried out with that country.

KA171 mobilities are implemented within the countries, partner institutions, mobility types, mobility directions, quotas and budgets approved by the Turkish National Agency under the KA171 projects of Ankara Science University.

Countries and partner institutions open for application, available quotas, grant amounts, application requirements and selection procedures are announced in the call for applications published for the relevant KA171 project period.

As country classifications and eligibility rules may change according to the call year, the Erasmus+ Programme Guide applicable to the relevant contractual period, the rules of the Turkish National Agency and the current announcements published by Ankara Science University shall prevail.
