Software Engineering has become a necessary engineering field due to the increasing digitalization trends that have been prevalent in all areas of our lives in recent years. In our increasingly complex and concentrated lives, software components at various levels have become indispensable in solutions designed to simplify daily processes. This makes software engineering education one of the most important educational fields of today and the future. The software of today and the future will be structured to include functions that will effectively collect, process, and interpret the masses of data we generate in the digital world, make targeted inferences, and produce decisive and guiding results in decision-making processes.
More importantly, a complex, multi-layered, and large-scale ecosystem has now formed, including mechanisms that will manage the instantaneous interactions of humans and other artificial systems involved in these processes, and this ecosystem is increasingly It will gain greater prevalence and depth. For this ecosystem to function healthily, securely, reliably, and efficiently, it is crucial that the software produced be produced, operated, and maintained with disciplined and systematic approaches and processes.
Software engineering education, regardless of the problem area being solved, covers the entire life cycle of the software produced. It stands out with an educational approach that focuses on the issues that need to be taken into consideration throughout the 4-year education period. In this context, during the 4-year education period, students are expected to think analytically, develop their technical skills, and produce optimized systems/applications that can be used, developed and easily understood. Our department provides training for all aspects of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
