Program Description

In today’s world, where technological development and digitalization are rapidly accelerating, significant investments are being made in the tourism sector to gain a competitive advantage over other countries. In this context, the education and employment of individuals equipped with qualified professional knowledge and skills play a critical role in delivering high-quality services. A qualified tourism workforce contributes significantly to building a positive national image, transforming tourists’ expectations into satisfaction, and ensuring that natural, cultural, and historical heritage is passed on to future generations through a sustainability-oriented approach. Qualified human resources therefore provide the sector with a competitive advantage and strengthen the delivery of high-quality services. Accordingly, the demand for trained tourism professionals continues to increase.

The Tourism and Hotel Management Program at Ankara Science University Vocational School is a two-year associate degree program that contributes to meeting this need by educating qualified individuals who can adapt to the dynamic nature of the tourism and hospitality sector, possess professional knowledge and skills, demonstrate strong communication abilities, adhere to ethical values, and have a well-developed awareness of service quality. Students are admitted to the program from relevant vocational high schools and other high schools based on their scores in the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT), administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) as part of the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS). Student admission is carried out in accordance with the information provided in the Guide to Higher Education Programs and Quotas for the relevant academic year. International student admissions are governed by the relevant regulations and procedures established by the University. The number of students admitted to the program is determined by the quota specified in the relevant guide.

The program aims to provide students with theoretical and practical knowledge in areas such as hospitality management, front office services, housekeeping services, food and beverage services, tourism marketing, customer relationship management, communication, tourism economics, and tourism legislation. To graduate, students must successfully complete all courses in the curriculum, earn a minimum of 120 ECTS credits, achieve a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.00 out of 4.00, and successfully complete the compulsory internship.

In addition to acquiring professional knowledge, the Tourism and Hotel Management Program values the development of students as individuals who are sensitive to different cultures, capable of teamwork, successful in interpersonal relations, open to innovation, and committed to lifelong learning. Considering the people-oriented nature of the tourism sector, the program also aims to enhance students’ professional competencies in areas such as communication, ethical conduct, crisis management, and technological applications, thereby strengthening their professional capabilities and understanding of high-quality service.
