The 12th Sailing Federation of Turkey and Urla Yacht Club organized the 29-30 April 2023 in Urla. The 10-person mixed team, including five athletes representing Ankara Science University (ABU) in the Jimmy Key Universail 2023 Sailing Competition, successfully completed the competition and became Turkey's first runner-up.
The races, which included sailing teams from 17 universities across Turkey and 30 boats, were held on courses set up near Alman, Pirnali, and Çiçek Islands off the coast of Urla. The ABU team, consisting of Ali Tuncer, Gökhan Tuna, İlhami Kale, Esra Şahin, Nedim Kemer, Yüksel, Dilara Yüksel, and Rifat Sami Ars, The mixed team received their first-place trophy at an awards ceremony held at the Urla Pier Port following two days of competition.
Ankara Science University Rector Yavuz Demir congratulated the sailing team in a message, saying, "Our university athletes successfully represented our school in the 12th Jimmy Key Universail 2023 Sailing Competition, placing first in Turkey. We congratulate our athletes and wish them continued success."
