Exemption exams are offered for the English courses ENG101/ENG102 and ENG201/ENG202 taught in departments where the language of instruction is English.

  • Students who wish to be exempt from the Academic English courses ENG101 and ENG102 must take the ENG101–102 Exemption Exam. Students who achieve a score of 81 or above (BA) on the exam will be exempt from the courses ENG101 and ENG102.
  • Students who wish to be exempt from the Academic English courses ENG201 and ENG202 must take the ENG201–202 Exemption Exam. Students who achieve a score of 81 or above (BA) on the exam will be exempt from the courses ENG201 and ENG202.

Students who have not previously taken ENG101, ENG102, ENG201, or ENG202 are eligible to take the relevant exemption exams. Students who are enrolled in and successfully complete any of the aforementioned courses during the semester may not take the exemption exams for the purpose of improving their grades.

The grade obtained in the exemption exam will be recorded on the student’s transcript as the course grade.

Students who wish to take an exemption exam must complete the registration process through the registration page, which will be activated during the course selection week. The necessary instructions and information will be provided through the Student Information System (OBS).
