The Air Traffic Control Department trains highly qualified professionals who will manage and direct flight safety, airspace management, and slot efficiency – the most critical and indispensable elements of the global aviation network. In a global transportation system where thousands of aircraft are in the air every second, ensuring the safe, orderly, and efficient flow of flights is the responsibility of air traffic controllers (ATCs) who possess instantaneous decision-making abilities, superior situational awareness, high concentration, and impeccable stress management skills.
Our newly established department at Ankara Science University offers a modern educational model fully compliant with international civil aviation standards (ICAO and EUROCONTROL). To be admitted to the Air Traffic Control Department, students must meet the requirements set by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (SHGM). Specific requirements mentioned in the YKS (University Entrance Examination) preference guide should be reviewed. Our students gain the opportunity to acquire a theoretical foundation in aviation English, navigation, meteorology, air law, and radar techniques. We have an educational cooperation agreement with DHMI (State Airports Authority) to support our students' education.
Our department aims to train its students not only as technical practitioners but also as experts with an academic vision in the fields of aviation safety and human factors. Thanks to our educational program, conducted in close contact with the State Airports Authority and sectoral stakeholders in Ankara, the heart of the aviation industry, our graduates will be able to hold the safety of the skies in their hands as professionals in a globally recognized profession with high employment opportunities.
Our curriculum also includes PPL (Private Pilot License) theoretical training in its elective course pool. If our students meet the admission requirements of the pilot training program, they can complete these theoretical courses free of charge during their undergraduate studies and then, if they wish, begin practical flight training. Flight training is subject to a fee.
