ISLAMOPHOBIA THEMED ARTICLE COMPETITION
Call for Academic Contributions from Young Researchers
The Center for Combating Islamophobia (CenterCIF) is organizing an “Islamophobia Article Competition” for master's and doctoral students to encourage Islamophobia studies, support the academic output of young researchers, and provide qualified contributions to the field.
Islamophobia has become an important research area at the intersection of many disciplines today, such as media, politics, education, law, international relations, migration, digital platforms, and cultural studies. In this context, the competition aims to support original academic studies that address the historical, social, legal, political, and cultural dimensions of Islamophobia.

Who Can Apply?

Postgraduate students studying in Turkey or abroad,
- Researchers whose student status is still valid on the application date.
Topic Headings
Articles can be prepared on the axis of Islamophobia, including but not limited to the following areas:
- Media and Islamophobia
- Digital platforms and hate speech
- Education, textbooks and discrimination
- Islamophobia in the context of law and human rights
- Islamophobia in Europe and the world
- Migration, identity and social integration
- Orientalism, cultural representations and stereotyping
- Policies to combat Islamophobia
- New media, artificial intelligence and digital discrimination
Competition Conditions:
- Participants will send their articles, along with the application form specified in Appendix I and their student documents obtained from e-government with a barcode, to makale@ankarabilim.edu.tr.
- Articles can only be written in “Turkish” and “English”.
- Articles submitted to the competition must not have been previously published elsewhere or submitted for publication elsewhere.
- Participants declare, agree, and undertake that the entire article they submit is originally prepared by themselves; that they have not used ideas, opinions, data, or studies belonging to others without proper attribution and source citation; that they have not used artificial intelligence tools in the preparation of the article; and that if this statement is found to be untrue, they will accept the revocation of any awards given to them.
- If the articles are deemed worthy of an award for publication, all publication rights of the article (publication and distribution in print and digital content, publication as a book, sharing on websites and social media, etc.) will be transferred to Ankara Science University.
- Articles deemed suitable for participation in the preliminary review will be considered by the Jury. In the awarding process, only works that meet the minimum level of success determined according to the jury's evaluation criteria will be considered. If this level is not met, the relevant award level may be left vacant.
- Each participant can only submit one article.
- All participants in the competition will be presented with a Certificate of Participation.
Writing Rules:
- 150–200 word abstract in Turkish or English,
- Maximum 3,000 words excluding bibliography,
- Times New Roman, 12 point, 1.5 line spacing,
- Footnotes 10 point and at the bottom of the page,
- Submission in Microsoft Word or PDF format.
Evaluation
Applications will be evaluated by a scientific committee consisting of expert academics in the field;

- Scientific method
- Contribution to the literature
- Academic writing
will be evaluated based on the following criteria.
Prizes
First Prize: 60,000 TL
Second Prize: 40,000 TL
Third Prize: 20,000 TL
Publication Opportunities
The winning entries and those that successfully pass the peer review process will be considered for publication in a special issue on Islamophobia published by Ankara Science University.
Purpose
This competition aims to encourage young researchers working in the field of Islamophobia, support interdisciplinary academic production, and provide original contributions to the increasingly important field of Islamophobia studies on a global scale.
