Exemption exams are organized for the English courses coded ENG101/ENG102 and ENG201/ENG202, which are taught in departments offering English-medium instruction.
- Students wishing to be exempted from the Academic English courses coded ENG 101 and ENG 102 take the ENG101-102 Exemption Exam. If they score 81 or higher (BA) on the exam, they are exempted from the ENG 101 and ENG 102 courses. Click on for Sample Exam.
- Students wishing to be exempted from the Academic English courses coded ENG 201 and ENG 202 take the ENG201-202 Exemption Exam. If they score 81 or higher (BA) on the exam, they are exempted from the ENG 201 and ENG 202 courses. Click on for Sample Exam.
Students who have not previously taken the courses coded ENG 101, ENG 102, ENG 201, or ENG 202 are eligible to take the exemption exams. Students who have taken and successfully passed the specified courses during the semester cannot take the exemption exams for the purpose of raising their grades.
The exemption exam score is recorded on the student's transcript as the course grade.
