Proficiency Exams for Newly Enrolled and Repeat Students
(2026-2027 Fall Term English Proficiency)
The English Proficiency Exam will be administered on 7, 9, and 10 September 2026 for newly enrolled students at our University and students who are continuing their studies at the English Preparatory School.
Proficiency Exam Schedule
Stage 1 (TEST)

Students who obtain a score of 45 or above in Stage 1 (70 or above for students in the Translation and Interpreting programme) are eligible to take the Stage 2 examinations.
Repeat students may take the Stage 2 examinations on the basis of TEST scores of 45 or above obtained in previous examination sessions (70 or above for students in the Translation and Interpreting programme).
Students who do not take the Proficiency Exam will not be granted another opportunity to take the examination. No make-up or repeat examination will be administered for the Proficiency Exam. Students who do not take the examination will continue their studies at the English Preparatory School during the 2026–2027 academic year.
A Placement Test will be administered on 22 September 2026 for students who fail the Proficiency Exam and/or do not participate in the exam. The purpose of this examination is to determine students’ instructional level (Level A or Level B).
The Placement Test is administered only for students enrolled in the English Preparatory School and does not constitute an exemption examination or a Proficiency Examination.
