The "12th Jimmy Key Universal 2023 Sailing Race," organized by the Turkish Sailing Federation and Urla Yacht Club, took place in Urla between April 29th and 30th, 2023. Representing Ankara Bilim University (ABU), a mixed team of 10 members, including 5 athletes from ABU, successfully completed the competition and became the first-place winner in Turkey.

The race, which saw the participation of sailing teams from 17 universities across Turkey and 30 boats, took place on a course near Alman, Pırnalı, and Çiçek Islands off the coast of Urla. The ABU mixed team, composed of Ali Tuncer, Gökhan Tuna, İlhami Kale, Esra Şahin, Nedim Kemer, Yüşa Özel, Dilara Yüksel, and Rifat Sami Ars, received their first-place trophies at the awards ceremony held at Urla Pier Port after two days of racing.

Yavuz Demir, the Rector of Ankara Bilim University, congratulated the sailing team in his message, stating, "Our university athletes, participating as a mixed team in the 12th Jimmy Key Universal 2023 Sailing Race, successfully represented our school and became the first-place winners in Turkey. We congratulate our athletes and wish them continued success."
