The opening ceremony of Ankara Science University for the 2025–2026 academic year was held with the opening lecture titled “The World of Digital Communication” given by RTÜK President Ebubekir Şahin. At the ceremony, held in the courtyard of the university, Rector Prof. Dr. Yavuz Demir, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Gökhan Yazgı, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Dr. Cemalettin Kömürcü, academics, students, and guests were present.
This year's academic theme was "Equality," and the concepts of equality, digitalization, and awareness were highlighted at the ceremony.

The ceremony's opening speech was delivered by Ankara Science University Rector Prof. Dr. Yavuz Demir, evaluating the university's six-year development process, said, "Since its founding, this university has chosen to be the subject of genuine concern, a profound philosophy, and a universal embrace."
In his speech, Demir emphasized that science does not need to be modest, saying, "Behind true science lies sublime faith. That faith makes you steadfast and resilient in the face of the power of the existing."
Demir also touched on the university's motto, saying, "Just like Ankara Bilim's 'You are limitless,'" As its motto emphasizes, we maintain an educational approach that allows our students to develop their individual potential,” he said.
Board of Trustees Chairman Dr. Cemalettin Komurcu: “Those who prioritize rights establish justice.”
In his speech, Board of Trustees Chairman Dr. Cemalettin Komurcu stated that universities are not merely institutions that grant degrees, saying, “Universities are places of awareness. We want our students to be aware of themselves, their surroundings, and the world.” "He said.
Referring to the suffering experienced by the people of Palestine and Gaza, Komurchi said, "Our university will always strive to establish justice by prioritizing right. Because those who prioritize force cannot establish justice." He concluded his speech with the following words.
Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Gökhan Yazgı: "Equality brings peace, love, and tranquility."
Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Gökhan Yazgı stated that he found this year's theme of Ankara Science University meaningful, saying, "The path to becoming a world-class university lies in embracing the fundamental values that humanity needs. Equality brings peace, love, and peace." he said.
Emphasizing that Anatolia has historically been the cradle of equality and justice, Yazgı said, “Many countries that try to teach us lessons in democracy and equality have slavery and genocide in their history. Our history doesn't. Our youth should be proud of our ancestors.”

RTÜK President Ebubekir Şahin, who gave the opening lecture of the ceremony, said, “The World of Digital Communications” In his speech titled "The Effects of Digitalization on Communication," Şahin discussed the effects of digitalization on communication.
"Everything about us has become digital; from our homes to our vehicles to the way we think. Digitalization is also advancing very rapidly in the field of communications," said Şahin, highlighting both the benefits and risks of this process.
Şahin stated that RTÜK’ has over 95 percent control over traditional broadcasts, adding, "In digital media, content control and editorial responsibility are of great importance. Because the speed of spreading fake news is 70 times faster there." " he said.
Şahin, calling on young people to be conscious about their digital content consumption, said, "The best filter is your mind. Just as your university's motto is 'You are limitless,' you are the editor here. You are the one who will oversee the content."
